01 — ALBERTA AIDS TO DAILY LIVING (AADL)
Provincial Medical Equipment Funding
Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) is the primary provincial program to explore when adaptive mobility equipment is medically and functionally required.
AADL supports eligible Alberta residents with long-term disabilities, chronic illnesses or terminal illnesses by helping fund basic medical equipment and supplies. Covered categories include specialized pediatric equipment, specialized seating, wheelchair accessories, and manual and power wheelchairs.
Who may qualify:

What families should know:
An assessment and authorization must take place before purchasing equipment. AADL specifically states that it does not reimburse clients who purchase equipment before assessment and authorization. Equipment is normally obtained through an AADL-approved vendor.
AADL generally operates as a cost-share program: eligible Albertans pay 25% of the benefit cost, up to a maximum $500 per individual or family per benefit year, while qualifying low-income Albertans and people receiving income assistance may be exempt.

xROVER is a specialized adaptive outdoor mobility system and should not be represented as automatically covered by AADL. Eligibility depends on the clinical assessment, applicable benefit category, approved products/vendor pathway and individual authorization.

02 — EASTER SEALS ALBERTA
Accessibility Equipment Funding
Easter Seals Alberta is particularly interesting for xROVER because its current equipment program explicitly lists strollers among equipment it may fund.
The program accepts applications from Alberta residents of all ages who require accessibility support and have been unable to obtain funding elsewhere. Easter Seals states that it may provide up to CAD $5,000 toward an eligible piece of equipment.
For its Children & Youth Equipment Program, eligible applicants must generally be under 18, live in Alberta, have exhausted other equipment-funding resources and not be eligible for government-based funding such as AADL. Current application requirements include an OT assessment, household Notice of Assessment and vendor quote. Funding is not guaranteed.

This is a very strong secondary pathway for xROVER because adaptive strollers are specifically contemplated by the program rather than us trying to stretch a generic grant category.

03 — CHILDREN'S ABILITY FUND
Specialized Equipment & Mobility Funding
For Alberta families with children or young adults, the Children's Ability Fund is another strong potential pathway.
The organization provides funding for specialized equipment intended to increase independence for children and young adults with disabilities throughout Alberta, generally up to age 21. Its listed individual funding categories specifically include Mobility Devices, along with communication/assistive technology and other specialized equipment.
