Blakely’s Story: Five Years of Adventures, Courage, and Family
When life changed, the Olson family found a way to keep exploring together.
When Blakely’s mobility changed after cancer treatment, her family wanted one thing above all — to make sure she could continue being part of the experiences they loved together. Since 2021, their xROVER has traveled with them through family outings, days at the lake, trips across the sand, and countless moments that became memories. This is Blakely’s story.

Some stories remind us exactly why xROVER exists.
This is one of them.
In 2020, Blakely Olson was diagnosed with brain and spine cancer.
The tumors had spread to her spinal cord, and for many months, Blakely lost her ability to walk.
For her family, life suddenly became filled with treatments, chemotherapy, radiation, hospital visits, and uncertainty.
But in the middle of everything they were facing, there was something else that mattered deeply:
Blakely was still Blakely.
She was still a daughter.
A sister.
A student.
A member of a family that loved spending time together.
And her family wanted to make sure she could continue being part of those moments.
A Family Determined to Keep Her Included
After Blakely's diagnosis and treatment, the Olson family wanted her to continue participating in the experiences that had always been part of their life.
Family trips.
School outings.
Days by the water.
Time with her siblings.
Adventures that did not stop simply because mobility had become more difficult.
As Blakely's mom, Danielle, shared with us:
“After chemo and radiation we wanted to make sure she was a part of our family trips to the sand bar and school outings.”
So in 2021, the Olson family chose an orange xROVER.
What began as a mobility solution became part of their family's life.
A Community That Helped Make It Possible
There is another beautiful part of Blakely's xROVER story that we only recently learned.
In 2020–2021, Blakely's school community came together through “Baskets for Blakely,” raising donations to support her family during her cancer journey.
The money they raised helped the Olson family purchase Blakely's xROVER.
For Danielle, the reason for choosing it was simple.
Their family had always been active, and she was determined that Blakely would not be left behind simply because her wheelchair could not go off-road.
As Danielle told us:
“As an active family I was bound and determined she wouldn’t get left behind as her wheelchair couldn’t go off road.”
The xROVER helped make that possible.
It allowed Blakely to stay part of family adventures, school outings, days on the sand and time outdoors — and Danielle remembers that even Blakely's younger sisters could help push her.
What began with a school community helping one of its families became more than five years of participation, adventures and memories.
Five Years. So Many Memories.
More than five years later, the photographs Danielle shared with us tell the story better than any product description ever could.
There is Blakely riding in the xROVER on the family boat.
There she is with her family at a baseball field.
There are days beside the lake.
Days on the sand.
Outdoor adventures.
Family outings.
And ordinary moments that become extraordinary when you look back at them years later.
The xROVER wasn't the reason those memories happened.
Blakely and her family were.
The xROVER simply helped make it possible for Blakely to be there with them.
And that distinction is important to us.
Because adaptive mobility isn't really about equipment.
It is about participation.
From the Boat to the Beach
One of the things we love most about the photographs Danielle sent us is how naturally the xROVER became part of their family adventures.
In one photo, Blakely sits comfortably in her xROVER aboard the family boat.
In another, the xROVER is surrounded by her family at a baseball field.
And then there are the beach photographs.
With the xROVER Beach Set installed, the family could move across the sand and closer to the water.
These are not staged product photographs.
They are not models.
They are not a marketing campaign.
They are a family's real memories.
And they show exactly what we mean when we say:

Then Came Five Years Without Evidence of Disease
After everything Blakely had endured, her family received something extraordinary.
For five years, Blakely had no evidence of disease.
Five years.
Five years of growing.
Five years of family.
Five years of school, outings, water, sand, siblings, smiles and memories.
And throughout those years, the xROVER that arrived at the Olson family's home in 2021 continued to be part of their journey.
That alone would have made this a beautiful Real Family Story.
They Were Ready to Pass It On
By early 2026, Blakely had been doing so well that her family believed the time had come for their xROVER to help someone else.
After moving in January, Danielle contacted their local school about donating the xROVER, along with Blakely's other pediatric mobility equipment, so another child could benefit from it.
They had not delivered it yet.
And then, unexpectedly, everything changed again.
The xROVER that had helped Blakely stay part of family life years earlier might now have another role to play in her own journey.
Danielle hopes Blakely will not lose her ability to walk during this round of treatment. But on the days when chemotherapy leaves her exhausted, her family knows the xROVER is still there.
For a quiet stroll after leaving the hospital.
For time outside with her family.
And, when Blakely feels ready, for somewhere this family knows very well:
the beach.
Blakely Is Fighting Again
Just two weeks before Danielle wrote to us, Blakely was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a blood cancer her family was told was related to her previous chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
After five years without evidence of disease, Blakely and her family are back in the hospital.
More chemotherapy.
And this time, a bone marrow transplant.
When Danielle sent us these photographs, she was writing from the middle of another chapter no family ever wants to face.
That changes the meaning of this story.
This isn't simply a story about an xROVER that has been used for more than five years.
It is a story about everything that happened during those five years.
The Photographs Matter
Looking at these photographs today feels different knowing what Blakely and her family are facing again.
The lake.
The boat.
The sandbar.
The baseball field.
The family gathered around her.
They remind us why participation matters.
Because we never know which ordinary afternoon will someday become one of the photographs we treasure most.
A mobility solution cannot change a diagnosis.
It cannot change what a family has to endure.
But sometimes it can help make sure that while life is happening, everyone gets to be there.
And sometimes, that matters enormously.
This Is Why We Share Real Family Stories

But none of those things explain what adaptive mobility really means as clearly as Blakely's photographs do.
The real measure of mobility isn't how far a stroller can travel.

A family vacation.
A day at the lake.
A trip across the sand.
Being there.
Being included.
Being part of the family story.
