Five Years Later: What Adaptive Mobility Can Mean for a Family
For the Olson family, xROVER was never simply about getting from one place to another. It became part of years of family experiences with Blakely.

Some mobility equipment is measured in specifications.
Weight capacity.
Dimensions.
Wheel size.
Accessories.
But families often measure it differently.
They remember the places they were able to go.
The family trips.
The days by the water.
The school outings.
The time spent with siblings.
And the moments when everyone could simply be together.
For the Olson family, those moments have now stretched across five years with xROVER.
When Mobility Changed
In 2020, Blakely Olson was diagnosed with brain and spine cancer.
The tumors had spread to her spinal cord, and during treatment Blakely lost her ability to walk for many months.
Her family's world suddenly included chemotherapy, radiation, hospital visits and enormous uncertainty.
But there was another question they had to answer:
How could Blakely continue being part of family life while her mobility had changed?
The answer was not about finding a way to make her sit on the sidelines.
It was about finding ways to keep her included.
Five Years of Being Part of the Moment
Over the years, Blakely's xROVER has been there for experiences that might seem ordinary until mobility makes them difficult.
Family outings.
Days at the lake.
Trips across sand.
School activities.
Time outdoors.
Moments with her siblings.
And countless smaller experiences that never make it onto a list of product specifications.
That is what makes Blakely's story important to us.
It shows what adaptive mobility can mean after the purchase, after the delivery and long after the first photograph.
It can become part of everyday family life.

From the early days to years of family adventures — xROVER has continued to be part of Blakely's journey.
More Than Access
At xROVER USA, we often talk about participation beyond the home.
Blakely's story is a real example of what that means.
Adaptive mobility cannot change a diagnosis.
It cannot remove every obstacle a family faces.
But the right equipment can help remove some of the physical barriers between a person and the experiences happening around them.
And sometimes that means something very simple:
Being there.
At the lake.
At an event.
With siblings.
With friends.
With family.
This Is Why Real Family Stories Matter
Specifications help families understand a product.
Real experiences help us understand why the product matters.
That is why we created xROVER Real Family Stories — to share the experiences of families who are actually using adaptive mobility in everyday life.
Their stories also help other families who may be at the beginning of their own mobility journey understand what might be possible.
To the Olson family — and especially to Blakely — thank you for allowing us to share part of your journey.
Five years later, your story continues to remind us why xROVER exists. ๐งก
Do You Have an xROVER Story?
If your family uses an xROVER and you would like to share your experience with other families, we would love to hear from you.
Your story may help another family realize that more experiences together are possible.
